Author Guidelines

GENERAL STANDARDS

1. Language Editing

Manuscripts submitted to Archipel must meet international standards for English. Articles are typically published in English.

For authors who would like language editing or proofreading, Archipel can recommend internal or external partners. Please contact the editorial office for further information. Note that having a manuscript edited does not guarantee acceptance. Editorial decisions are based on scientific content, not on language polishing.

2. Language Style

The default language style is American English. Authors who prefer British English should indicate this on the first page of the manuscript. Manuscripts in Bahasa Indonesia must follow PUEBI (Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia).

3. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

A few simple practices help readers find your article:

  • Include some of your keywords in the title.
  • Avoid long titles.
  • Choose up to 5 keywords combining general and specific terms.
  • Use the keywords in the first two sentences of the abstract.
  • Use some keywords in Level 1 headings.

4. Title

The title is placed at the top of the page in Cambria, Bold, size 14. It should be short, clear, interesting, and describe the article content (no more than 15 words recommended). Avoid abbreviations and implicit terms. Creative or witty titles are fine if they remain relevant. The editorial office may suggest revisions.

5. Authors and Affiliations

Author names are written in Cambria, Bold, size 12, listed together and separated by commas with superscript numbers linking to their affiliations.

Affiliations are written in Cambria, size 9 and follow this format:

Department Name, Name of Organization (University), District/City, Country

  • If authors come from different affiliations, list each affiliation on a separate line, numbered 1, 2, 3, …
  • If authors share the same affiliation, list the affiliation once with a combined superscript (e.g., 1,2,3).

Provide the corresponding author's email address in a separate line below the affiliation block.

6. Headings

Section headings (INTRODUCTION, METHODS, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, CONCLUSIONS, ACKNOWLEDGMENTS (if any), REFERENCE) are written in Cambria, Bold, size 12, single spacing (1.0) and in UPPERCASE.

7. Abstract

The abstract is written in Cambria, size 10, single spacing (1.0). It is written in Indonesian (and/or can be added with English), in one paragraph of approximately 250 words. The abstract includes:

  • The objectives of the research
  • The methods used (e.g., sample and analytical techniques)
  • The results / answer to the research problem

The abstract should be brief, conscientious, and summarize the important research variables.

8. Keywords

Provide keywords representing the basic ideas or concepts in the field of study, no more than 5 words.

9. Body Text

Body text is written in Cambria, size 12, single spacing (1.0), justified.

10. Nomenclature

Use abbreviations sparingly. Non-standard abbreviations should appear at least four times and be defined the first time they are used.

SECTIONS (ORIGINAL RESEARCH ARTICLES)

Manuscripts are organized into the following sections, all formatted as headings in Cambria, Bold, size 12, single spacing (1.0):

1. INTRODUCTION

The introduction contains the purpose of the article/research, formulated and presented with an adequate introduction, and avoids detailed references and presentation of research results.

What to include:

  1. Urgency of the research, supporting facts, and data.
  2. Results of preliminary research as the basis of the research.
  3. Gap analysis before stating the research objectives — describing the differences between the research and previous research, so that the novelty becomes apparent.
  4. The stance of the research: whether it corrects, argues, or supports previous research.

2. METHODS

The methods used should be accompanied by references; relevant modifications should be described. Data analysis procedures and techniques should be emphasized in literature review articles. The research stages and analysis should be described in detail enough that another researcher can evaluate or repeat the study.

3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Results and discussion are presented in the same section, clearly and concisely.

Guidelines:

  • The discussion section should contain the benefits of the research results, not merely repeat the results section.
  • Tables and graphs should show different (not duplicate) results.
  • The results of data analysis must be reliable enough to answer the research problem.
  • References in the discussion section should not repeat the references in the introduction.
  • Comparisons with previous research results should be included.

Working with Graphics

Figures (Image)

  • Image captions are positioned at the bottom of the image and include the source.
  • Format: Image 1. [caption] / Source.

Tables

  • Table captions are placed above the table.
  • Tables are open (no full borders), single-spaced, center-aligned, in Cambria size 10.
  • A "Source:" line is placed below the table.

General tips:

  • Keep graphics simple, informative, and at high resolution.
  • Color is allowed.
  • Use original artwork; avoid duplicating figures already in the manuscript.
  • Avoid photographs of identifiable individuals without consent.

4. CONCLUSIONS

Research conclusions are presented in a brief, narrative, straightforward, and conceptual manner. The impact of the research should be stated. Do not repeat the abstract or introduce new information.

5. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS (if any)

A short paragraph thanking individuals or institutions who contributed.

6. REFERENCE

References should be written in accordance with APA Style 7th Edition. Include URLs or DOIs where possible. A minimum of 30 references is recommended. The journal requires that at least 80% of the references cited come from national and international journals.

Citation rules:

  • Cite using the author's last name and year.
  • If quoting from multiple authors, list them sorted by the most recent reference.
  • If an article has two authors, mention both names.
  • If an article has three or more authors, cite the first author followed by et al.
  • Every cited reference must be written in full in the reference list.
  • Each in-text citation must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.
  • Unpublished references are not recommended.
