Peer Review Process
Archipel applies a double-blind peer review system. Every manuscript goes through a review process by experts whose work is relevant to the topic of the submission. The review aims to assess academic quality, methodological soundness, and the overall credibility of the manuscript. The review at Archipel runs through nine stages:
1. Submission of Paper
The corresponding author uploads the manuscript through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. During the transition period, Archipel also accepts submissions via email at journalarchipelid@avidpedia.com.
2. Editorial Office Assessment
The editorial office checks whether the manuscript fits the journal's focus and scope, follows the Author Guidelines, and meets minimum scholarly standards. Manuscripts that pass this stage are checked for similarity using Turnitin or iThenticate before being sent for review.
3. Appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief examines the manuscript's originality, relevance, and contribution. Manuscripts deemed unsuitable may be declined at this stage without going to peer review.
4. Invitation to Reviewers
The handling editor invites reviewers whose expertise matches the topic and who have no conflict of interest. Archipel uses a strict double-blind system: authors do not know the reviewers, and reviewers do not know the authors.
5. Response to Invitations
Reviewers consider the invitation based on their expertise, current workload, and any potential conflict of interest. If they decline, they may suggest other qualified reviewers.
6. Review is Conducted
Reviewers read the manuscript carefully. The first reading gives an overall impression; later readings allow for detailed evaluation. Reviewers provide point-by-point feedback and recommend whether the manuscript should be accepted, rejected, or revised (major or minor).
7. Journal Evaluates the Reviews
The Editor-in-Chief and handling editor read all review reports. If reviewers disagree significantly, an additional reviewer may be invited.
8. The Decision is Communicated
The editor sends the decision and the anonymized reviewer comments to the author. Reviewers are also informed about the outcome of their review.
9. Final Steps
Accepted manuscripts move on to copyediting. If revisions are required, authors must respond to all reviewer comments and resubmit. Major revisions may go through a second round of review; for minor revisions, the handling editor usually performs the final check.
Once the manuscript meets Archipel's editorial standards, it is accepted, published online, and made available as a downloadable PDF.
